Focus and Scope

Journal of Global South Early Childhood is a scholarly journal published by PPJ PAUD Indonesia.

Focus:
This journal aims to be the leading academic platform for disseminating high-quality research on early childhood development, ages 0–8, within the Global South context. We are committed to:
1. Amplifying local voices – Providing space for perspectives, local knowledge, and indigenous practices from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific.
2. Bridging the research gap – Addressing the underrepresentation of Global South research in the global ECE literature.
3. Promoting evidence-based policy – Connecting research findings with governance, partnerships, and sustainability in line with SDG.

Scope:
We welcome manuscripts using quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, and conceptual paper methodologies that include, but are not limited to:
1. Policy & Governance: Decentralization of ECE, accountability, government–private–community partnerships, sustainable funding in developing countries
2. Equity & Inclusion: Access to ECE in remote, underdeveloped, and disadvantaged (3T) areas, gender, disability, children in conflict/post-disaster situations
3. Curriculum & Pedagogy: Curriculum contextualization, play-based learning rooted in local culture, mother tongue use in ECE
4. Workforce & Teacher Development: ECE teacher training, well-being, professionalization in low-resource settings
5. Family & Community Engagement: Parental roles, indigenous child-rearing, community partnerships
6. Critical Perspectives: Decolonizing ECE, postcolonial childhoods, critiques of imported models from the Global North
